Pink & purple......

The little person I look after, and have mentioned before a couple of times on other blog posts, came to play today and oh what fun we had. She, along with her family, were moving into a new house today and the previous owners had left behind a lovely red pram thinking she might get some joy from it. Well, it wasn't just fun for her.... it was fun for me too! I immediately felt a lot of love for this old pram.... I know it is old and the plastic sun shade is faded and torn in a couple of places, I know there is a screw or two missing, I know that some of the enamel is chipped off and the metal work is going rusty but still..... it rustled up some childhood excitement and we decided to play babies for the afternoon.

She borrowed Evie's dollies and their bedding, as the pram had come to her in it's naked state and as we played I mentioned that it might be nice for the pram to have some new linen all for itself. She loved the idea and immediately tried to take the pram upstairs to heaven saying, "I'll meet you in the craft room, we could make something for the babies up there"! I duly trotted upstairs with her and opened up my pink and purple fabric boxes (these are her favourite colours after all don't you know!!) and she picked out some pre-cut fabric squares (Dot, you will recognise those!) and a purple flowery fat quarter which was stashed a very long time ago and hadn't yet found it's purpose.

We spent a lovely hour sewing together (she gets to pretend by sitting next to me with fabric and fabric glue making her own creations, pressing any buttons on the machine that need to be pressed and putting the presser foot up and down at the appropriate times!) and at the end of our time together she had a new top quilt and pillow for the pram. I promised that I would make a sheet/quilt for the bottom of the pram over the next day or two and take it over to her to complete the new set of linen. She liked this idea too and reminded me to make it in either pink or purple...... maybe with a few pink or purple buttons....... and perhaps a little pink or purple ribbon...... I'll have to see what I can do!
