plenty of playtime......

ahhhhh, what a lovely week away was had by all......
plenty of opportunity to play with fabric, paint, sewing machines,
ribbons, buttons, paper and a few other bits and bobs too..........

 evie did a spot of block printing onto fabric.....

she had a smashing time.....

imogen played with her shopping trolley and the kittens......
all at the same time......
who'd have thought.......

sometimes there was one kitten in the basket......

sometimes two........

and even three at times, if she was quick enough to get the third one in there
before one of the others made a bid for freedom.....

it was so much fun watching her play this game......
and the kittens seemed to come out of it all unscathed......

evie and imogen also had some time together baking cakes
and making fancy icing in anticipation of grandad's birthday party.....

it all had to be very patriotic as his birthday fell on the tuesday of the
jubilee weekend celebrations......

the above photo reminds me so much of when my two were the same age as imogen
and they would stand on a chair to watch while auntie dottie or imogen's mummy
{their cousin} baked up some yummy goodness......
ah, how time flies by and now evie competently bakes all by herself.......
{with another little one by her side, watching closely......}

she made some cupcakes in cones.......

and a large union flag birthday cake for grandad.....

both were *delicious* and i have to say that i think
evie has a bit of a golden touch when it comes to sponge cakes.......
they always end up so very light and fluffy.....
{can't say it's anything to do with her mother's influence,
more like delia smith's influence i would guess......}

there were also one or two opportunities for a bit of {op}-shopping during the week{!!}
and i did add a little bit of ribbon goodness to my stash......
{as well as quite a pile of fabric...... and wool....... and a nice glass bottle for the kitchen.....}

most of the ribbons in the jar below are made by fabernmix
and are just so very, very cute......
i've already used a number of them on things that i've
been beavering away making.....

 in fact i actually sewed up a heap of things whilst i was on my hols
to take down to a little shop here in wells
that has agreed to sell my 'bits and bobs'......
{how excited am i that my 'stuff' is to be sold? -
let me just say, quite a bit.........}

however, i didn't take any photos of the finished articles
before i delivered them to the little shop on saturday.....
oops......
i'll try harder to remember next time......

and finally, miss b has returned to the fold,
purring away happily after her time away with the very nice sewing
machine repair man......

she has been put to good use already and is probably
wondering when she will get another little
holiday to relax and unwind......
