sometimes....

from just reading the posts on this blog you would think I only had one child....

 my darling girl is always trying new creative things and I like to blog about them 

{as any proud mummy would}

 so she gets lots of mentions.....

thing is, I have TWO beautiful kids but Isaac would be the first to say,

 'I don't do craft' so he isn't as..... prolific as evie in that department...

fact is he is a very creative boy, especially with lego.....

he does like to 'doodle' too and we love the books by Ed Emberley

because they encourage him to draw {and fingerprint}

 where he might otherwise give up and we have built up a little collection 

of Emberley's books over the years......

so imagine my joy when I was in an op shop a couple of days ago

 'just browsing' {as you do} and I spotted quite an old book {1974}

 by Syd Hoff called How to Draw Cartoons.....

 I picked it up for the princely sum of 30c and brought it home for Isaac.....

here are a couple of the pages just to give you an idea of the sort of thing he enjoys....

after I gave it to him, he immediately picked up a pencil 

and began the process of drawing.... 

love it when they get inspired.....

evie has been inspired by some of the illustrations in The Hobbit

which we have been reading recently and wants to spend the day tommorow 

doing some drawing and painting.....

she was particularly taken with an illustration entirely made up of dots, 

circles and swirly lines which depicted the trolls lying in wait for the dwarves 

and Bilbo in the forest..... can't wait to see what she comes up with.....
