brian really likes toasted muesli and in the UK had his favourite
sort which I routinely picked up from the supermarket.....
since arriving in australia I have gone about making toasted muesli for him
and have come up with a mix that he really enjoys so I thought I would share it.....
you'll need:
6 cups of rolled oats
2/3 cup of wheat bran
2/3 cup of coconut
1/4 cup of sunflower seeds
1/2 - 2/3 cup of chopped almonds
1/2 - 2/3 cup of chopped unsalted peanuts
1/4 cup of oil
1/3 cup of honey
mix all the dry ingredients together and then pour the oil and honey over......
mix until really well combined......
pop in an oven at 150 degrees for 30 mins turning a couple of times
to make sure it gets evenly toasted......
when cool you can add a selection of dried fruits to the mix
e.g. sultanas, chopped dates, chopped apricots, cranberries,
dried pinapple or papaya etc. whatever takes your fancy really.....
the combination of nuts is just Brian's favourites
but you can experiment with your own choice of favourites,
I have used walnuts and pecans in the past which have worked well too....
just to say that Brian doesn't normally eat from a Bunnykins bowl
{nothing wrong in eating from a bunnykins bowl of course}
but it is the prettiest bowl I own so I felt I had to go with it for the photo.....
