Evie's been thinking about ways to raise money to help with relief work in Haiti and we came up with this one as a little craft that she could manage all by herself and which would look good enough, and be very handy and practical, for daddy to take into work to sell to his friends there!
You could also make up little packages of these pegs to give as gifts - maybe clipped onto a card and tied up in a cellophane bag or some such other pretty manner...... I know for sure that Grandma would love some of these for her fridge!
So here's what you need:
Some pegs
Paint (we used acrylics)
Paint brush
Odd bits of pretty paper
Some PVA glue
Magnets (we used the strip magnets which we cut in half length ways and got two out of each strip)
Various embellishments (optional)
Take the pegs apart, being careful not to bend the spring out of shape.....
Paint them in various yummy colours.....
When they are completely dry carefully put the peg back together again and attach a strip of magnet (or a round magnet if that is what you have) to the back of the peg with pva glue......
Attach some pretty paper to the front of the peg - one pair of these pegs has paper completely covering the top of the peg and the other pair has a little border of painted peg still showing around the paper - I was experimenting! Do what looks best to you.....
Finally, and this is an optional activity, attach a few embellishments to the peg - I used little wooden stars and hearts which I had also painted, buttons, threads, nettle yarn, scraps of fabric and tiny jewels...
And there you have it - pretty pegs all in a row......
