week three.....

ah, the holidays continue
and this week was one that was jam packed full
of birthdays and days out and visits
and so many other fun things......

we started the week with evie's birthday.....
a birthday which is looked forward to
with more excitement than I think it is
possible for one small human being to contain.......

there was a sewing machine birthday cake as requested......
{thanks to the australian women's weekly birthday cake decorating book
for all its help with this one..... I don't think I could have pulled it off otherwise -
for those who haven't been reading my ramblings for very long, let me just
share with you that birthday cake decorating is something I do not enjoy nor do
I have any particular gifting in this area but every year my children ask for
a home made cake decorated to their specification and I do feel that I
should try to accommodate their wishes....... one day, I am hoping they will
just ask for a shop bought cake and I will finally be able
 to hang up my 'cake-decorating-spatula' for good}

there were favourite movies gifted from a thoughtful brother......

and a couple of seasons of 'the waltons' too......
I foresee lots of snuggling up with my girl for
movie nights so we can appreciate all that
jane austen and john-boy walton have to share with us.....

the day after 'the day' itself, evie requested a
gathering of friends......
and so quite a number of her home-ed friends
from bristol made the trek to visit us in wells........

they spent virtually the whole afternoon playing in the
large walnut tree on the field.......
the branches of this tree spread far and wide and almost
touch the ground..... this makes it the perfect climbing tree.....

a number of them brought their instruments
along and sang happy birthday to evie......
very special.....

after evie's celebrations had been thoroughly enjoyed
{and spread out over 5 days.....
I am  firm believer that birthdays should last longer than just one day}
there was another birthday ready to take centre stage......
oh yes, we like to keep the celebrations rolling in this family......

evie made another of her fabulous t-shirts
and gifted it to her daddy for his special day........

he was very chuffed and declared that we had to go out to show it off.....
so we went to have a proper morning tea in a local tea room.....

evie was mum......
and I was happy, happy, happy......

p.s. my crafty make this week was a little wrap to hold my
rather fancy nancy new knitting needles which were gifted
to me by my sister for my birthday last week......
it's a bit wonky but I love it and it does the trick.....
no pattern {which is probably why it is a tad wonky},
 just 'making-it-up-as-I-go-along'......

the front.....

the back...... complete with a wonky, not-in-the-centre zip......

this little zippered part is where I
will keep the cable ends and tightening pins,
for my needles are interchangeable don't you know.....

and then, ta-da, inside are the channels to
hold the needle tips and another row of wider
pockets to hold the cables.....
{there is room for 9 sets of needle tips and
3 cables of various lengths}.....

now, the only thing left to do is to cast
on a new knitting project.....
