week five.....

ah, the week of the 'away from home' holiday......
we went to a place in the middle of nowhere in france......
infact, none of the fancy-nancy location services that seem to follow me
around everywhere informing me of where I am at any given time
{it's something to do with the fact that I carry my ipod touch everywhere I believe}
could pick me up, so I am still clueless as to where we actually were.....
all I know is that it was very quiet and rural and relaxing
{and about a 4 hour drive from calais}.......

Brian did all the driving and he just followed the car in front
{which happened to be the one my sister was travelling in}
and that was the car with the gps, so even Brian didn't have a clue
where we were when we eventually arrived......
it's actually quite liberating, not knowing where you are but finding
yourself in a rather idyllic spot with lots of peace and quiet......

the week included lots of swimming for the smalls.....
a visit to see the bayeux tapestry {rather splendid it has to be said}.....
a rather sobering walk around the american cemetry and memorial
at omaha beach on the north normandy coast.......
and lots of eating......
oh yes, there was HUGE amounts of eating......

there was a little crafting too......

 a disembodied monkey head was completed......
{I did crochet his body and one leg too whilst away
but forgot to take any stuffing so they they are still looking
a little deflated at the moment}......

and I ripped out {or rather my brother-in-law ripped out}
 the beginnings of a cardigan I had started knitting about 18 months ago......
I seemed to do something wrong in the very first row of the pattern and
I really didn't want the challenge of trying to work out what went wrong and where,
I just wanted something easy-peasy, so I cast on and started knitting the 'practically'
cardigan, which is really just a grown up version of the 'in threes' cardigan which is one
of my fave baby/children's knits.......

the pattern can be found  here on ravelry......
{the above pattern is the baby size version.....
mine is not quite so advanced yet.....}

I also added a few hexagons to my hexie blanket and I saw a photo of another
hexie blanket with a lovely edging on it, so I shall keep that 'pinterested'
 for when the end-time comes and my hexie is actually a decent size -
then I will be all ready to go with the edging....
{who knows when that might be..... ho hum.....}
