in the houses we have lived in over the last 10 years or so
i have managed to 'carve out' a little space which was mine.....
a place to put my 'creative mess'.......
somewhere to keep my 'bits and bobs'......
{and let me tell you, i have a lot of bits and bobs....}
{and let me tell you, i have a lot of bits and bobs....}
in our home in bristol i commandeered a corner of our bedroom.....
it was small, but it was mine......
in our first house in australia I had 'heaven'......
an upstairs room.... yes, a WHOLE ROOM, which was
dedicated to all things crafty......
in the house we recently left in oz, I had a little
corner of our 'multi purpose room' where I popped
a little table, on which sat Miss B {my trusty sewing machine}
and a whole host of other 'necessary crafty items'......
when we moved into our current house i had three weeks
{before all our 'boxes of goodness' arrived}
to decide where my 'crafty corner' would be, and I plumped
for this space in the sun room......
this was going to be 'my space'......
it started to take shape when a cupboard that had been
stored at my sister's house the whole time we were 'down south'
arrived back in my possession.....
it was tired......
it was beat up......
it was lacking appeal......
so i set too with a pot of white paint and gave it a little face lift.......
there, that's a bit better.......
{it's not quite finished yet..... some pretty handles and
something behind those frosted glass panels would look
rather spiffy i reckon.....}
then, i turned my attention to that great auction website 'ebay'
and found a table that i thought would fit the space beside
the cupboard perfectly.....
i got a billy bargain it has to be said, and the table
came to live at l'asile with me and Miss B......
{and my host of other 'necessary crafty items'}
i love this corner, with it's big window and skylight......
i love that the window looks out over the beautiful buildings
that i am surrounded by.....
and i love that, once again, i have a little space to call my own.....

i have to say I am a little jealous 'for now' - a place to call your own. But the good news is that my husband has recommenced work on what I am calling my 'sewing/scrapbooking studio", a loft above the barn shed. It now has walls on almost 3 sides with insulation. Hoping for paint, window, storage and ceiling next :). Then finally flooring and some furniture - I been a-planning this space!!!
Wow what a gorgeous space to work in. It would certainly inspire me to be creative! X
I LOVE it - your space is gorgeous and you've done a great job with that cupboard! LOVE the window and the light - so different - I miss you over here I do!
What a fab space, Deborah. Hope you are all fine and dandy.
