Tonight it was some bird feeding treats.....
Of course we had no peanuts left from Christmas when I bought some for the fairy furniture Evie wanted to make, so daddy was enlisted to drive her to Coles to buy another bag!
On arriving home she just COULD NOT WAIT for the morning to do her bird feast, oh no, that was completely out of the question..... those poor birds could starve overnight if she didn't get at least one or two treats out on the tree for them to feast on tonight......!
So there we were melting lard (yuck) and mixing together a lot of 'yummy stuff' to squish into one of the huge pine cones that we had lying in our fire grate.
Then we had to make monkey nut necklaces to hang from the tree branches tonight while the 'lardy' cone hardened in the fridge..... wouldn't want any starving birds on my concience now would I?
Concience abated she came in and brushed her teeth, washed her face and got ready for bed, happy in the knowledge that she had done her bit for the wildlife of Ballarat.......
