Birthday season....

it's birthday season around these parts....

oh, what joy and frollicking we have..... three out of the four of us have jolly celebrations all within nine days.....

Brian was chief cake maker, ably assisted by Evie (the wondrous) and together they made Bruce Bogtrotters cake from Roald Dahls Revolting Recipes book.

This was per my request as it is a rather squishy and deliciously extravagant cake.

Only problem was the recipe calls for 225g of plain chocolate in the cake and 225g of chocolate in the coating....

neither Brian nor Evie noticed this and put all 450g into the cake....

yup, nearly half a kilo of chocolate was used to make this......

The reason the cake is spreading all over the plate is because of all that chocolate and the fact that it came out the cake tin a bit too soon......

and the reason there is no coating to cover up some of the 'slight imperfections' is that they used it all up in the cake!

but let me assure you dear friends that the appearance of this cake is in no way indicative of its taste.....

it is stupendous...

and I have requested it for next years birthday too..... with no coating and twice as much chocolate in the recipe!

Then of course there was the presentation with candles.....
