I gave Evie a limit of $5 to spend and because she does tend to want to spend all her money on the first thing she sees I started off by telling her that we would have a look round first and then we would start the process of parting with our lollie!
She found this very difficult..... the waiting until we had perused all the stalls before being able to purchase anything..... but I have learned from bitter experience just how upset she gets when she sees 'something else' that takes her fancy when all her cash is already gone!
She was a little disappointed too that most of the 'make and takes' were only for children (and adults) 14 years or older. We did however find a stand that were doing a Christmas card make and they were quite happy for her to join in..... she really enjoyed this activity and her card turned out quite beautifully!
Once she got into the purchasing swing there was no stopping her. She spied some very pretty papers and chose two pieces to put into her bag (on top is a little embelishment that one of the demonstrators gave to her and this delighted her because she had something to put in her bag and it didn't cost any of her $5!);
then she spied some brads and tags which she also added to her growing stash;
finally she splashed out on a tiny pot of purple, shimmery paint. She convinced me that since the lady doing the demonstration of the special shimmery paint had used the special watercolour brushes with the water reserve in the handle that she should be allowed to use mine (which were secretly stashed away at home). In return she kindly told me that she would allow me to use her paint if I wanted to..... sweet child!
When we returned home she immediately got her art bag and opened up her art book so that she could use my special brushes with her special shimmery paint and she created a picture of a night sky..... beautiful.
