Twinkle, twinkle, little star.......

Ooooooh, I found this lovely (and very easy) tutorial a couple of days ago during a little journey round the blogs that I like to check out (see my side bar if you would like to see some inspiring people at work!!)

Anyway, this morning I woke at 5am (FIVE-A.M. I tell you.....that is positively the middle of the night for me!!) but there was no way I was going to get back to sleep because in my mind I kept mulling over why the dessert I made for a gathering of friends last night hadn't turned out quite as I had anticipated and wondering how I could improve it for next time etc. etc. etc. (why is it that these pointless thoughts can keep us from very important sleep I wonder when there is nothing I can do now about the dessert, and anyway it was consumed in its entirety so it can't have been that bad!)

So FIVE-AY-EM it was (have I conveyed to you yet just how disturbing it is for me to be up at that time?) and I was WIDE AWAKE so I thought I would get up and spend a little quiet time at the computer without someone constantly asking me 'is it my time yet?'

Well, as I was browsing through my favourite blogs I remembered this little tutorial and thought that since I had some crimson and cream wool left over from a previous knitting project I would give it a go..... and oh, what joy I had.

Within an hour I had four lovely granny twinkly stars and was feeling much more positive about the 5 am start and the fact that I had some undisturbed time before the start of the day.

I can see a whole garland of these around my Christmas tree or strung around my lounge room.

What do you think? Seriously, if you can crochet (or even if you can't because, believe me, you could if you tried, it is very easy..... it's only taken me 40 years to try!!) have a go at some of these. You could just hang them individually on the tree or use them as Christmas coasters or use one as an embelishment on a the wrapping of a Christmas gift or a Christmas card ..... well, you could probably think of a whole load more ideas...... let me know of them when you do though!

Love them! I'm just learning to crochet and am not sure that my skills have reached this (or any) level yet. I'd certainly like to make some of these little treasures but might not take the 5am approach!
