oh my deary dear.....
we visited with a friend a few days ago and she served us, along with a lovely cup of coffee,
a slice that I had never had the pleasure of tasting before....
now to those of you who are Australian and
therefore very familiar with the 'slice' in all its various forms,
I apologize if this is one that you know and love already......
therefore very familiar with the 'slice' in all its various forms,
I apologize if this is one that you know and love already......
but for those of you who live 'up north' and to whom 'slice' is a slightly more
unknown phenomenon
{as it was for me when I arrived upon these shores}
let me introduce you to.....
lorna's lucious lament.....
this is a scrummy, nutty, chocolatey,
'can't have just one piece' kind of slice
'can't have just one piece' kind of slice
{in fact I could have easily eaten the whole tin full
but I restrained myself and shared it out.....
but I restrained myself and shared it out.....
just a little!}
so to enjoy some of this luscious slice for yourself you will need:
1 pack of malt biscuits - crushed {about 250g}
1 pack of flaked almonds {my pack was around 100g}
4 tbs butter - melted
1/2 tin condensed milk
2 tbs golden syrup
200 grams of hazelnut chocolate {I used almond chocolate this time as that is what I had to hand}
1-2 tbs copha
1. mix together the crushed biscuits, almonds, melted butter,
golden syrup and the condensed milk.
2. press this into a slice tin and refrigerate until set.
3. melt copha and chocolate, and spread on the base.
4. refrigerate and cut into squares when cold.
I didn't put any copha in my chocolate,
just went with the chocolate 'as was'.......
just went with the chocolate 'as was'.......
actually I've never used copha before &
I only have the slightest inkling as to what it is.......
I only have the slightest inkling as to what it is.......
but anyway, the taste doesn't seem to be affected
in any adverse way by leaving it out.......
in any adverse way by leaving it out.......
{certainly didn't seem to affect the 'scoffability factor' in our house}.....
well, it's pretty much all gone 24 hours after being made
so I guess you could say that it was a hit.....
