naughty mumma.......

I love being a homeschool mum.....

I can't imagine a better job on this earth than pootling along
on this learning journey with my kids, day-by-day,
enjoying the surprise of remembering long forgotten maths concepts and biology facts........
actually I don't always remember them.....
sometimes I have to read the textbooks too.....
it has been a LONG time since I studied some of these subjects after all!

however, today I was a tad 'absent' as a homeschool mum.....

the kids sat down with some stuff they needed to get on with,
and I sat down with my sewing machine and SEWED quite a lot of the morning
and some of the afternoon away......

my consolation to giving them very little attention in the learning department
today was that they need to learn the art of self-directed learning......
it's a great skill that is not taught enough I reckon......

so here is what took my attention today......

a messenger bag......

yes, like I need another bag,
BUT I have been wanting to try out this pattern for a while
and since I got that sweet panel of fabric in my fabric bounty bag
at the weekend, I thought what better time than now to try it out.....

the pattern is really easy to follow, the size of the finished bag is just spot on.....
the only thing I changed was to make the strap about 5 inches longer
than stated as the bag sat too high
- on my waist rather than my hip -
and I put one of those great little metal claspy things inside
for attaching my house key to when I am out and about as it always
seems to get lost in the depths of chaos which is the inside of my bag.....

the pocket on the inside (which is divided into two sections)
is a great size for my iPod
and mobile phone,
plus some chewy
and my lipsalve,
and the pocket on the back
{did you notice the pocket on the back?},
is a handy little place to stash the car keys.

yup, this bag gets top marks from me.......
now I need to make another one with evie, for evie........

Great bag, I love it! I haven't been brave enough to attempt a messenger bag yet, maybe I should though! :) x

It always amazes me the things you can churn out in a day. I am so inspired to crack the sewing machine and give it a go. Where can I find the pattern?
