so here's a little bit of randomness......
just because it is in my head and I thought
I would just write it down so that it
would stop buzzing around in my brain......
today was evie's last art lesson at the art gallery.....
you know the one I wrote about last week........
{the one that involved the enormous sombrero......}
well, we all took a little edible 'something' with us
to this final class so that we could have a little
afternoon teaparty to celebrate the end
of the course.....
{it's always good to have a little party I reckon
to wrap things up.......}
it was a very civilized affair, with a nice little spread
of yummy goodness......
evie was the one who made our offering of
baked coconut slice with lemon icing........
and rather nice it was too......
but there was one cake added to the
'table of yumminess'
that I had neither seen, heard of nor eaten before
{and that is quite unusual for me as I am a
bit of a one for 'knowing my cakes'}
it was a 'jelly cake'.......
well, one taste of those little beauties had me
racing home and 'googling' a recipe for the little
tastey morsels, and this is one that I came up with.....
now, I obviously haven't had time to
'roadtest' this recipe for myself to see if they
match-up to the ones I tasted this
afternoon but if they do.......
well, let's just say that I will be making them
quite often as a little treat in our house.....
they sound a little 'unusual'
{jelly in a cake?}
but they are moist and delicious
and the colour of the jelly makes a
lovely bright, jolly, jelly cake.....
ok, that was random thing one,
now, random thing two.......
I've decided to crochet myself one of
these bags......
because, you see, although I don't have a little
apple at present, I have a fleeting dream that I
would like to have one of 'my very own'........
at the moment I have to share the laptop with all and
sundry in the household which means it is chock full of
games and music and photos and add-ons and
gadgets and gizmos and documents and.....
oh, I could go on but I will stop for now as
I am sure you get the picture......
so much of the 'stuff' on the laptop
is not mine......
it belongs to the other souls in my home
who make great use of
{in other words 'hog'}
this machine......
my dream is to have my own little apple
which I can fill with all things lovely and
then use whenever I want to.....
I know this sounds ultra indulgent but
I am happy to wait and save up my pennies
and then one day I will have a little
jaunt to an apple shop and will
bring home my own little bundle.....
in the meantime, I will crochet a little bag for it so that
I can gaze at the bag and imagine the day when the
bag accompanies me to said apple shop and
is filled with a little present to myself.....
ok, I think I will stop at two random thoughts for tonight
or this post might get rather too long and
you may fall asleep trying to get through it.....
tomorrow is friday......
yeah for friday.......
we love it in our house,
how about you?

Oh Deborah, you have been missing out.
My mum used to make jelly cakes into bitterly cakes when I was little.
She would make the jelly cakes as per the recipe, then slice the tops off each of the cakes, top with a bit of whipped cream, slice the lid of the cake in half and then use them as the 'wings' of the butterfly. Now THAT is a cake to die for!
Yep, love Friday too, it's a driving and a visiting day for me. I love Jelly Cakes but without the coconut, don't do coconut I'm afraid! Very Aussie thing are Jelly Cakes, I do however have my own little Apple and a little bag I made for it and I still love, love it. Very pretty bag Deb..
