A new crochet project and a 'thank you' to Spotlight.....

For a few weeks now I have been drooling over this blanket.....

If you haven't visited Lucy's blog and you enjoy all things crochet, you should really go over there pronto and have a gander..... I really love looking at her projects, they make me feel happy.....

In fact my very first crochet project was from a pattern that she shared on her blog....

Well, a few weeks ago she started hooking a granny stripe blanket and I was smitten..... SMIT-TEN I tell you....

I have been having to steel myself against going to Spotlight to buy up vast quantities of wool with which to make my own granny stripe blanket.....

However, and you will see that I am totally NOT to blame in this instance, Spotlight put their 100% wool on special offer..... 50% off!!! That means that a 50g ball was only $1.50..... an absolute bargain I cried (seriously, I did shout it out to anyone who was listening.... particularly my hubby so that he could also share the joy!!)

THEN (and this, dear friends I took as a confirmation that I should high tail it to Spotlight on the double) a $10 coupon from Spotlight was delivered into my mailbox in celebration of my birthday (which is not for a couple more weeks but hey, who am I to sneeze at an early birthday brucey bonus!!)

So as soon as Brian stepped in the house after work yesterday I told him the good news about the voucher and said I was off to get some wool as I felt it was only right that I did....

'Yipee' he cried (though I think that was more to do with the two week vacation ahead of us rather than the fact that Spotlight had sent me a voucher so that I could spend yet MORE money in their store.....) and off I went.

This is what I came home with.....

aren't they lovely? I took a couple of most of the colours they had in stock and put them all in my BIG bag (see, it has come in useful already!) Don't they look like candy?

Needless to say, I didn't waste any time in getting started..... here are my first few stripes....

LOVELY....

I'm trying very hard not to be prescriptive about the order the colours go in but just stick my hand in the bag and pull out the next one.... let's see how it goes!

I also had to make a dash for the shop when I saw Lucys gorgeous blanket. (Unfortunately I'm nowhere near a Spotlight) I am having a very happy time hooking away! I love it!!
