She's at it again..... and I am no longer afraid.....

Evie has been 'over-the-moon' excited that, over the last 10 days or so, the receiving blanket she made for her cousin's new baby has been much used and much loved....

today her cousin sent her an email asking if she would possibly consider making a second one as the original needed washing and there wasn't a spare.....

well you can bet your bottom dollar that Evie emailed her back IMMEDIATELY to say she would be more than happy to oblige and then told me to hurry up and get dressed so we could get out to Spotlight to buy some more flannel!

when we were in Spotlight she was jigging around so much with excitement at the prospect of getting home and starting on the new blanket I had to hold her down.... literally....

bless her.....

so today, the first proper day of the school holidays, she has already had a crafty project to keep her occupied.... and a very special one at that!

And me? ..... well, a couple of weeks ago now I found a bolt of denim fabric in an op-shop and picked it up for the princely sum of $6.....

a week later I returned to the same op-shop to pick up a bolt of white stretch cotton jersey......

Now to be honest I can be a little afraid of new things it must be said..... and stretch jersey has always petrified me......

I've given it a wide berth and NEVER sewn with it..... all that stretchiness..... aaarrrrgggghhhh.....

Well, I decided to face my fears and, as the whole lot only cost $6, I didn't have a lot to loose!

Today I cut into it for the first time..... (Evie needed some new long sleeve tops to wear under her short sleeve ones during the winter and I took this as my chance to quash the stretcha-phobia.....)

I cut out the pattern (another of my op-shop purchases) and found a lovely little presser foot and stitch on my machine that I didn't know were there and away I went......

it's nearly finished and that stretchy demon has high tailed it out of here.....
