Dessert......

We had been invited out to dinner tonight with the other people who make up Brian's department at work and I am always happy to be one of the ones to bring something sweet to the party - I quite enjoy making dessert (wonder why? could it be the fact that I have the MOST INSATIABLE sweet tooth?)......

and so this morning I shopped for ingredients and popped into Spotlight - because when you are across the road from Spotlight it would be criminal NOT to pop in just to see what's there....

and then I arrived home in time for morning tea......

Evie had made cheesy wholewheat scones which were pulled out of the oven and consumed within 2 minutes...... I was lucky to snap this photo before they were all gone let me tell you.....

These scones are SO VERY YUMMY...... especially straight out of the oven..... and can be made in their ENTIRETY by the littlest person in our house..... a bonus I say!

After a little sit in the sun with my man and my coffee, I busied myself with some baking of my own.....

I used a lot of these......

Mixed with some cocoa and sugar to make this......

which I cooked for 20 mins until it looked like this......

next I made a batch of this - dark chocolate mousse....

whipped up a bit of this.......

spread the mousse and cream liberally on the no-flour sponge, rolled it all up, put some sharp raspberries on the side (to counteract the sweetness of all that chocolate!!) and dusted it all liberally with icing sugar.....

there you go ...... a chocolate roulade all ready to go to out to dinner!!

We had a great evening with lovely people enjoying their 10 acres of land complete with chickens, and kangaroos grazing in the paddock - they also had the most enormous dam (had it been warmer I'm sure I wouldn't have been able to keep my two out of it!)

What a great end to the day..... hope you had a fab Saturday too.....
