Ric-rac making....

since my last post about crocheting ric-rac
I received two tiny-little-itsy-bitsy hooks from my darling sister
and have embarked on little ric-rac making.....

seriously can you even see that hook?
I have my camera as 'zoomy-in' as it will go and it still looks small......
to give you a rough idea, the ball of crochet cotton behind it is no more than 1 inch in size
and the crochet hook is a good bit in the foreground......

how did the girls in the 'olden days' crochet with sewing thread?
beats me.....

unfortunately, because I am of a certain age and not getting any younger
I have to work on this in bright daylight
{and even then I have to REALLY concentrate to see what I am doing.....}
dim evening light just means I have NO CHANCE of seeing what is going on
and therefore I would have to fly even more by the seat of my pants
than I normally do......

loving it though......

the other thing I have been enjoying is a pastime I have been indulging in for many years now......

making envelopes.

I love making envelope.....

especially from old magazine and catalogue pages.....

Laura Ashley is one of my favourite catalogues to use as their layouts are just scrummy......

here are some I made a while back....

I've been eyeing up the Cath Kidson catalogue I received a little while ago
and think maybe a page or two of that could be reused to great effect......

envelopes are so easy peasy to make and years ago I made templates for mine
so that I just have to whip out the template, pop it on the page over the image
I like and trace round it, fold it up using a touch of pritt stick and Bob's your uncle ...
a unique and thoughtful way of enclosing a letter or card......

here you can find a tutorial and template for making some
envelopes of your own from stuff that would otherwise end up
in your recycling bin......

it also helps appease my stationery fettish too.....

The ric-rac looks great and I love the envelopes made from catalogues. I've been meaning to make some myself out of maps, but need to make a good template first! :) x

The ric rac looks amazing in the verigated yarn! I love it. Now, what are you going to do with it I wonder. Have fun ric racing.
