a little bit of warm.....

evie requested a pair of fingerless wristwarmers ages ago.....

so last week when I was in Spotlight and saw some of their sock yarn on special offer, I picked up a ball......

I thought a nice fine wool would crochet up into a wristwarmer that wasn't too bulky for her little wrists......

I had to use a 2.5mm crochet hook for this yarn...... so needless to say my glasses made a HUGE difference in my ability to see what I was actually doing during the stitching of this project...... that, and trying to do as much of the crocheting during the day when I had daylight to help me....... I really need to get one of those daylight lamps as I find crocheting in the evening REALLY hard work at the moment due to not being able to see what I am doing!

I used a half double crochet stitch (US) to make the wristwarmer dense enough to be warm during the chilly winter weather, but keep it flexible enough to make it comfy to wear.....

I started off by chaining 40 on a 3.5mm hook and then switched to my 2.5mm hook, crocheting back and forth until it was the length evie wanted it, stitched it together in a tube shape leaving a hole for her thumb and it was all done..... easy-as-pie......

I've only finished one of them at the moment {the other one will be finished tomorrow....... I promise} but evie INSISTED on wearing it AS SOON as it was finished......

better get on with that other one then.......
