by gum, it was cold in these here parts yesterday morning......
it was the first day of winter here in 'the south' and it certainly gave the impression of having decided not to disappoint......

evie discovered this drop of water hanging from a lingering leaf on the cherry plum tree at the end of our garden......
{don't ask me what she was doing outdoors in the FREEZING cold...... actually, I'll tell you anyway - she was collecting the ice off the top of the bird bath so she could bring it in to the house to show me.........}
it took a lot of persuasion to get me to go outside so I could see {and take a photo of} this droplet....... and I had to put on about 20 layers before I would even go near the back door...... brrrrrrrr.....
but she was VERY excited to show it to me and it was very pretty.........

but I saw this over on Soulemama's blog and thought it too lovely not to share...... you can download a pattern and everything from the link on the page........
it made me smile and think, 'I need to make one of those...... soon'...... to accompany the little baby vests I am in the process of making.........
and speaking of the baby vests......
the little Milo jumper is coming along {though not very fast....} and I'm not sure I understand the pattern too well {I learned to knit about 30 years ago but the actual total hours clocked up with the needles in my hand is not that vast, so I'm doing a lot of pondering and pencil-end-chewing.....]
fortunately for me, the pattern comes with some helpful pictures to aid my understanding of the tricky binding off method.......
