You gotta love recycling....

Dot and I have been visiting as many op shops as we can find and one thing we have been looking out for is old purses with clasps that can be re-sewn onto new creations. So here is my first attempt using the little bit of Kaffe Fassett fabric I had left over and the same lining I used for my handbag. I sewed and re-sewed this purse to the frame a number of times, each time adding something to it to give it more stability or strength and then when I was finally happy that I had done all I could I sewed it on with little pink, red and purple seed beeds on the outside of the frame.... cause they looked pretty!

I also learned a bit about raw edge applique.... don't choose such silly shapes when you do the free machining..... I couldn't cut away the fabric between the petals of the 'flower' so it just looks a bit like a blob on the front.... well, you live and learn.

Any hints, tips and suggestions for any further purses would be gratefully received!

This is just gorgeous Debbie - I love the idea of recycling purses. I'll get Dot to show me how to carefully take off the old before replacing it with the new? There must be a knack!
